Mountain Music

Run by pianist Richard Ormrod and violinist Mary Hofman, Mountain Music provides intensive, one-to-one courses and small group courses, for solo pianists, solo violinists and violin/piano duos. Here you can design and book a course of a length to suit you, on dates of your choice. Whilst enjoying generous hours of coaching, there is also opportunity to explore spectacular landscapes and absorb the peace of the surrounding rivers and lakes. Set in the Gwydyr Forest, in Eryri National Park, the intimate setting and supportive nature of the tuition create a unique course.

Group Courses

OMF Summer Music Course

An annual collaboration with OMF, a fantastic charity providing music tuition in schools in Manchester and much more besides!

Students on one-to-one courses have accommodation in their own self-contained annexe with double bedroom, bathroom and practice room with baby grand piano.

Students coming on small group courses have the choice of using the luxurious bell-tents and shower block, or arranging their own accommodation in the nearby village of Betws y Coed, where there is a plethora of Bed and Breakfasts, hotels and holiday cottages.

I had a delightful few days at Mountain Music with Richard and Mary in North Wales. As a relative beginner to the piano, I was amazed by how much I learned in such a short time. Richard’s deep knowledge of music and Mary’s seasoned musicianship shone through in their expert and thoughtful teaching. Their warm hospitality and the beauty of their home made the experience even more special. My time there not only deepened my love for the piano but also inspired me to continue my musical journey.
